- Who checks it against the allowance that applies to that specific rental?
- How is the overage amount actually calculated — a fixed process, or a judgment call?
- If a customer questions a charge, can staff show exactly why it was created?
- How long does it typically take between disposal and that overage showing up as billable?
- Does the billing record keep the supporting scale ticket attached, or does that live somewhere else?
- If different rentals have different rates or allowances, does the process apply them consistently?

A few patterns show up often enough to be worth watching for specifically:
- A ticket that's captured but never actually reconciled against the rental it belongs to
- Reconciliation that happens late enough that the details are hard to reconstruct
- An overage rule that's technically set but applied inconsistently from customer to customer
- Billing that requires the same information to be typed in more than once
- Supporting information — the ticket, the job details, the rate that applied — scattered across a few different places instead of living with the invoice
